SHOPS

“Westgate Street, even when I was a kid, had that sort of atmosphere, the wild west, it was jumping. I can remember to buy shopping with my mother and going to a shop just down from the cross and I can remember the cheese being cut and the ham being cut, going to the counter and the costs written on the envelope and a lady would take the money off you send it up in a tube up to the cashier’s office and your change would return.”
