ELVERING

“Elvering was big on Westgate. We made our nets out of withies and old net curtain, very fine netting. When I was a child you could get elvers for a shilling a pint. Back in the 1930s, my grandfather, Roddy used to take elvers over to Cheltenham and sell them for six pence a pint, by horse and carriage.”
